For 1989's Formula One season, Zakspeed enlisted Japan's Aguri Suzuki and Germany's Bernd Schneider to take its 891 racer to first place. Unfortunately, the car's underpowered engine prevented these skilled drivers from achieving that goal. As a result, Zakspeed bowed out of F1 racing and went back to touring car success.
