--The Kiha 185 series is a limited express diesel car manufactured from 1986, and was introduced mainly as a replacement for express diesel cars in the Shikoku area.
--The vehicle belonging to JR Kyushu was transferred in 1992 and started operation as a limited express [Yufu] [Aso], and the appearance was changed to one based on red. In addition, the green seat of the intermediate car Kiroha 186 was abolished and became Kiha 186.
--In 2004, a light was added to the front of the leading car.
--In 2018, the designs of [Yufu], [Aso], and [Trans-Kyushu Limited Express] were unified, and the appearance was based on red with a swallow mark.
