- The AH-64D Apache Longbow is an advanced version of the AH-64A Apache all-weather attack helicopter developed and adopted in line with the US Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter (AAH) plan. The version without a radar was called the AH-64C, but at the end of 1993, the AH-64C designation was abolished, and it was called the AH-64D Apache Longbow regardless of whether it was equipped with a radar or not.
- The most notable feature of the on-board sensors is the Fire Control Radar (FCR), also known as the Longbow Radar, mounted on top of the main rotor mast. It is a new-generation attack helicopter that has excellent controllability during combat due to its advanced system management.
- The Ground Self-Defense Force has decided to introduce the AH-64D Apache Longbow as a successor to the AH-1S.
- On December 15, 2004, the first aircraft for the Ground Self-Defense Force, which made its first flight in Mesa, Arizona, USA, was delivered to Fuji Heavy Industries in Utsunomiya on December 18, 2005 after conducting various tests A reassembly has taken place.
- At this time, the equipment of the Ground Self-Defense Force specification is also done.
- The Ground Self-Defense Force's AH-64D Units 1 and 2 were manufactured by Boeing in the United States, but Fuji Heavy Industries plans to license about half of the subsequent aircraft.
- March 16, 2006 Unit 1 ferryed to JGSDF Camp Akeno.
- Various tests and inspections will be conducted in Akeno in the future, and we will proceed to actual deployment.
