Description

- The light cruiser [Yahagi] was completed at the Sasebo Naval Arsenal in December 1943 as the third Agano-class ship.
- The Agano class was planned as a torpedo squadron flagship, and features a modern appearance and armament that distinguishes it from the previous 5,500-ton class.
- The main gun was equipped with three 15 cm twin guns and two newly developed long 8 cm twin high-angle guns.
- After completion, Yahagi participated in major battles such as the Battle of Mariana and the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
-In the meantime, the anti-aircraft armament was strengthened.
- In April 1945, in response to the U.S. forces that landed on Okinawa, Operation Ten-ichi went out as the flagship of the 2nd Torpedo Squadron to escort the battleship Yamato. He was killed in battle on the way to Okinawa after being deported.
