[Actual vehicle guide]
-The 221 series is a suburban train of JR West that appeared in 1989, and at the time of its introduction, it was applied to the new rapid service along with the 117 series.
- The leading car uses large curved glass for the streamlined forehead, and was given the nickname of [Amenity Liner] as the first newly built format after the establishment of JR West.
- With the advent of the 223 series, the operation of the special rapid service was withdrawn around 2000, but since then it has been active on major routes throughout the Keihanshin area.
-Yaw dampers have been added to some bogies since 1998, and the skirt bottom of the top car has been extended since 2004.
