[Actual vehicle guide]
-The Kiha 141 series is a diesel car that appeared in 1990 to increase the transportation capacity of JR Hokkaido's Gakuen Toshi Line (Sassho Line).
- There were the Kiha 141 and 142 types, which diverted scrapped parts of the Kiha 56 for the bogies, the Kiha 143 type, which adopted the Kiha 150 drive system, and the Kisaha 144 type, an accompanying car used in combination with these.
- It was mainly used between Sapporo Station and Hokkaido Iryo University Station on the Sassho Line, but due to the electrification of the same section, most of the operation ended, and Kiha 143 type was diverted to Muroran Main Line, Kiha 142/143, A total of 4 cars of the Kisaha 144 type were transferred to JR East, and were maintained as passenger cars that also served as auxiliary power in the steep slope sections and tunnels of the SL Ginga.
- SL Ginga Kiha 141 series has an interior and exterior theme of Kenji Miyazawa's [Night on the Galactic Railroad], with constellations and animal motifs drawn, and paint from the front to the back of the formation. It is characterized by a blue tone that changes towards the end.
