The EF81 for the Twilight Express, which began operation in 1989, was painted green with a yellow band to match the passenger car, and in later years, a silver band was added to the top and bottom of the yellow band to match the renewal of the passenger car.

The yellow belt reproduces the appearance of a silver band added to the top and bottom.
The skirt and front are reproduced with a coupler buffer device.
Reproduce the appearance of being equipped with an inspection port on the side of the driver's cab.
"Twilight", "Sea of Japan", "Salon Car Naniwa" printed head mark included.
The H rubber of each window is reproduced in black.
Insulator parts are reproduced in green.
Integral plate wheel core wheel adopted.
The car number is selectable and etched license plates are included (EF81-103, 104, 43, 44, 113, 114).
Manufacturer's plate, end notation comes with etching plate.
The JR mark and body notation have already been printed.
The ward name tag has already been printed.
The headlights are lit with bulb-colored LEDs and an ON-OFF switch.
The energized terminal is used by removing the resistor cover on the roof.
The passing curve is R600 mm or more (excluding S-shape).
