The 400 series was introduced in 1992 to coincide with the opening of the Yamagata Shinkansen.
At the time of its appearance, it was a 6-car train, but in 1995, the 429 type was added to increase the transportation capacity, and it became a 7-car train.

Reproduced the appearance after the number of cars was increased to 7 cars by painting at the time of the appearance of the green belt in metallic gray.
The 400 logo on the side of the car is already printed.
On the connecting surface side of each vehicle, a hook and U-shaped energizing coupler are adopted.
The head and tail lights are equipped with a constantly lit board, and the 411 type has an ON-OFF switch.
The headlights are lit by bulb-colored LEDs and the taillights are lit by red LEDs.
Equipped with a movable hood.
The car number is selectable and a transfer sheet is included.
Insulator installed.
The 411 is equipped with a TN coupler on the driver's cab side.
Power with flywheel, new current collection system, silver wheels.
M-13 motor is adopted.
