Revisiting History with Fine Molds' Stunning Tank Models: Exploring the Legacy of the Type 95 and Type 3 Imperial Japanese Military Vehicles

Fine Mold MR01 1/35 Imperial Japanese Army Light Tank Type 95 Ha Go Late Prod. "Iwo Jima"

About the Type 95 Light Tank [Ha-Gō] Late Model "Iwo Jima"

The Type 95 light tank was officially adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1935 (Shōwa 10). It was used extensively from the Second Sino-Japanese War through the Pacific War and up until the end of the war, deployed in all areas where the Japanese Army fought, from the Kuril Islands in the north to the Marshall Islands in the south.

Towards the end of the war, as a precursor to a direct attack on the Japanese homeland, the Japanese military sent the Type 95 light tank in large numbers to support the defense of Iwo Jima, where American forces were planning to invade. The 26th Tank Regiment, equipped with the Type 95, played a pivotal role in this defense.

This regiment was led by Lt. Colonel Takeichi Nishi, a decorated equestrian who had won a gold medal in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics and was also known as "Baron Nishi." Fierce battles ensued as the regiment fought to protect the island.

● This kit is based on a new design and new molds released in December 2015, and it will be available as the "Late Model." It features the extended front fenders and the 7.7mm Type 97 heavy machine gun, characteristic of the late model.

About the Type 3 Gun Tank [Ho-Ni III]

The Type 3 Gun Tank [Ho-Ni III] was planned in 1943 (Shōwa 18) by the Army Weapons Administrative Headquarters as a 7.5 cm gun tank (Model A). It was based on the previously deployed Type 1 7.5 cm Self-Propelled Gun [Ho-Ni I], and was developed to not only serve in its traditional role of supporting the suppression of enemy fortifications but also to provide the capability to combat powerful enemy tanks.

Using the chassis of the Type 97 Medium Tank, the Ho-Ni III featured a fully armored, sealed combat compartment, providing sufficient protection despite being a fixed structure. The main armament was a 7.5 cm Type 3 tank gun, based on the Type 90 field gun, and the tank was expected to be able to destroy U.S. M4 tanks from a distance of 600 meters directly in front.

● This kit is a renewed version based on a limited edition model with additional interior parts, and the packaging size has been adjusted for the new release.
