This is a plastic model of the Fine-Molded 1/72 Aircraft Series Air Self-Defense Force F-2A Fighter Aircraft.
The F-2 is a fighter aircraft based on the US Air Force F-16 fighter aircraft and was developed in collaboration with Japan and the US according to their own operational concepts and geographical characteristics.
The main change from the F-16 has increased main wing area for improved swivel performance, and the advanced materials and construction make it lightweight and high performance.
It also has advanced electronic devices such as radars and firing control systems that have improved engine thrust, improved takeoff/mobility, and improved anti-ship attack.
It was initially classified as a "support fighter plane" as the primary commission on a ground/anti-ship attack, but now it is referred to as a "fighter airplane" due to the discontinuation of its classification.
