The EF58 appeared in 1946 as a locomotive to meet the demand for passenger transportation after the end of the war. Initially, it was a box-shaped body, but later it was replaced with a streamlined body, and 172 cars were manufactured by Showa 33 (1958). During the heyday of the Japanese National Railways, it was responsible for passenger transportation on major trunk lines such as the Tokaido, Sanyo, Takasaki, Joetsu and Tohoku Main Lines, and in addition to pulling the 20 series blue train, 12 series, and 14 series from the old passenger cars, it was also active as a freight train. Maintenance was carried out at each active line section, and in areas where there was a lot of snowfall, the front was equipped with a tulara cut and a snowplow, and an electric heating indicator light was installed on the side of the body.

・ Based on the model of Unit 89, the characteristics of Hitachi vehicles deployed in the Takasaki 2nd Engine District, Utsunomiya Driving Station, Nagaoka Driving Station, etc. from the late 40s ~ 50s equipped with LP403 headlights, original side filters, and old electric heating indicator lights are reproduced.
