――The 223-2000 series is a group that appeared in 1999 and is active from the special rapid service of the Tokaido / Sanyo Main Line to ordinary trains.
――There are 4, 6 and 8 car formations, with a maximum of 12 cars, and in various combinations, they are active mainly in long-distance operation between Tsuruga on the Hokuriku Main Line and Banshu-Ako on the Ako Line.
――Since 2011, headlights have been turned on for the leading cars connected in the middle of JR West cars.
--From 2015, a fall prevention hood was installed on the driver's cab side of the leading car.
